Expanded Function Dental Assistant

# CE Required: 30 hours every two years

Required Topics:

• Minimum of two hours must be in infection control topics
• Minimum of two hours must also be obtained in each area for which a licensee has an expanded function permit
  

A dental assistant who monitors nitrous oxide administration must hold current certification in healthcare cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from a course accredited by the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or an equivalent certification approved by the Board of Dentistry.

Dental assistants who assist in the administration of general anesthesia, deep sedation, moderate sedation or minimal sedation must be currently certified in basic life support skills (BLS) or the equivalent.
