South Dakota CE Requirements
Registered Dental Assistant
# CE Required: 60 hours, including current CPR card
- Credit for clinical continuing education is unlimited per 5-year licensure cycle
- Up to 5 hours of clinical continuing education may be earned for attendance at exhibits at each national, state, and regional dental conference with a limit of 20 hours per 5-year licensure cycle
- CPR credit is limited to 15 hours per 5-year licensure cycle.
- Credit for nutrition is limited to 15 hours per 5-year licensure cycle
- Practice management credit is limited to 10 hours per 5-year licensure cycle
- Continuing education through home study courses is limited to 30 hours per 5-year licensure cycle

- Registered Dental Assistants must maintain a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) card. The Board of Dentistry will only accept the American Heart Association for the Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider, the American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer or the American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) cards
- A person who is certified in dental radiography must have at least 5 hours of CE in dental radiography in a 5-year period
